Srivali Trust is a Charitable Trust formed by His Holiness Shrimat Sadyojat Shankarashram Swamiji, Mathadhipathi of Sri Chitrapur Math Samsthan, at Shirali in June 1997. It is registered with the sub registrar of Honnavar and also under the provisions of DPT Act from February 2002.

Shirali was known as Srivali in the olden days and hence the name.

The main objectives of the Trust are for the purposes of Charitable, Developmental and Educational activities for the benefit of the public, irrespective of caste, creed, language, religion and race.

In the short span of less than few years since its inception, the Trust has carried out a number of charitable activities. Some of them are mentioned below :-

Medical Health Services The Trust conducts a free dispensary 'Srivali Clinic' for the population of Shirali and nearby villages. This dispensary was started in January1998 and it has been run very effectively.

Dr Pushpa Krishna Moorty from USA offers Honorary Service at the Clinic. Dr. Sandeep Rao, MS from Honnavar is consulted regularly.

Manned by a visiting Doctor, the clinic is normally open for 2 hours from 4:30pm to 6:30pm in the evenings. Number of patients examined are about 20/day or 500/month, medicines are dispensed free of charge. Any chronic cases, which require surgery or hospitalisation are either recommended to Bhatkal, Mangalore or Manipal, where the expenses are (partly or wholly) met by the Trust. Arrangements for surgery at subsidised cost are made through the contacts of the Trust.

The Trust has also conducted an Eye Camp, where over 300 patients were examined, 265 refractions done and 16 operated for Cataract successfully. Blood Donation camps are held twice a year and there is regular participation in vaccination drives such as Pulse Polio etc.

Gymnasium - A gymnasium for the Local Youths was opened in April, 2004. Admission to the Gym is open to people from all walks of life at a very nominal rate, and about 80 people - number restricted only due to space constraints - take advantage of the facility. The Gym is headed by a full-time supervisor/trainer, Mr Mahadev, a young person from Chitrapur.

Srivali Samvit Sudha - is Vocational training unit - caters to the local economically backward women - as of now training is imparted in the 'tailoring and stiching' trade. The uniforms for Srivali School students are being stitched by the trainees at Srivali Samvit Sudha. Jholis, pouches, purses are also made here. ... An Award was given to Srivali Samvit Sudha .....

Assistance to needy students: Besides running the Srivali High School the Trust provides text, note books and stationary to students of the Shri Anandashram Vidya Mandir School free of cost, in addition to financial assistance to needy college students and mid-day meals to children in schools in Shirali.

Clean drinking water for the population of Shirali. On 21st April 2002, His Holiness Sadyojat Shankarashram Swamiji inaugurated a filtration / distribution system ensuring clean water to the Math and surrounding areas.. The filtration system involves alum treatment and filtration, carbon treatment, and controlled Chlorination. This system is capable of drawing water from 4 existing and one new well into large underground storage tanks The filtered water is again stored in large underground storage tanks ready to be pumped to 13 storage tanks in the Math and as far as Panchavati and Anandashraya, ensuring continuos supply of clean, safe, water.

The Srivali Trust is registered under the Income Tax Act 1961 and has obtained recognition under Section 80 G of the same act from 7th June 97. Donors of the Trust can claim exemption of 50% of the donation amount from their gross total income (subject to certain ceilings)

The Trust is also registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulations Act-1976 from June 2001, thus enabling it to accept donations in foreign currency.

Persons desirous of making donations to the Trust may do so either in Cash or by crossed Cheque/Draft payable to Srivali Trust, Shirali and remit the same to the Executive Trustee, Srivali Trust, Shri Chitrapur Math, Uttara Kannada, Shirali - 581 354.

His Holiness is the President of the Board of Trustees. The Trust is being run and administered under the spiritual guidance of His Holiness. The Trustees, numbering 5 to 9, are appointed by His Holiness and hold office for a period of 3 years at His sole discretion. One of the Trustees is appointed Executive Trustee to carry out the decisions of the President and the Board and to look after the day-to-day administration of the Trust.

Before any decision of the Board is acted upon, approval of the His Holiness is obtained.
