Some things are contagious, the love for Sanskrit, for instance. That Param Poojya Sadyojat Shankarashrama Swamiji loved the language deeply, was apparent. We were new entrants into sadhana. The desire to please one's Guru was great. And what better way than to learn Sanskrit ourselves!

The Guru's anugraha is abundant. We were introduced to an excellent, energetic, enthusiastic, young teacher who smashed every" why I cannot learn Sanskrit " reason in the book.
As we walked the various avenues of our past, we developed a sense of wonder and pride. The zero was no foreign invention. "Why did the chicken cross the road?" was an old Sanskrit riddle. Medical surgeries had been described in ancient texts. Cures for predicted ailments, that would much later emerge in a future, modern world. "How to build aircrafts." The list was endless.
Sanskrit has emerged as The Language for computer studies, what with its grammatical precision. Experts in various fields all over the world are turning towards secrets that Sanskrit texts are only too willing to reveal. As for its adaptability... it has words for the internet, information technology , even for chocolate. How much more modern can one get!

As for us, we began to finally understand prayers that were said. Poojas became intimate. The wealth of meaning in shlokas and stotras brought tears. Dramas, tales , poetry, humour could be enjoyed in the language they were written in. Most wondrous of all, we had begun to speak the language of the Gods. The past opened up a treasure, to enrich our lives now.
Enthusiastic that we are, we couldn't wait to share it all with you. Share the beauty of the language that Sanskrit is. And what better medium than the website? It opens up doors as never before. Lessons will be taught and if you have any queries regarding the lessons, you can always write to us. We will learn and grow together.
There is one thing though that you can definitely expect. At times we will be informal, and, at times formal...but always interesting and fun.

Today, the 3rd July 2002, is the birth centenary of Param Poojya Shrimat Anandashram Swamiji. On this auspicious occasion, we bow down in reverence to the entire Guru Parampara, seeking their blessings for an auspicious beginning.
