ACTIVITIES DURING THE LAST QUARTER :
With the Divine Blessings and cascading Grace of Our Swamiji His Holiness Parama Pujya Sadyojat Shankarashram Swamiji, the Prarthana classes in Chennai began in August 2008. The Chennai Prarthana Centre began the classes with a fantastic young, energetic cricket team of 12 students! The Children were taught the Sabha commencing prayers and closing prayers and were exposed to the true meaning. They were introduced to the wonders of the Shri Chitrapur Math, the glories of Lord Bhavanishankar and the ever flowing grace of the Guru and the Guru Paramapara.

Within a month of starting the Prarthana classes we were blessed to have the presence of Parama Pujya Swamiji in Chennai. During Pujya Swamiji’s camp, a workshop on puppet show was conducted by Deepa pachi Murdeshwar and Ruzbeh pachi for the Prarthana children. The event was wonderful, encouraging and most of all filled with fun. At the end of the workshop our Prarthana children put up their own puppet show with the help of these two pachis.

The remaining part of the year just seemed to fly by, being completely filled with wonderful activities and new learning. The children were given the opportunities to bring out their views and feelings and they did a good job at it too, expressing their hearts content through essays, drawings and the vimarsh sessions. The children and (we the teachers too) learned a lot through experience in the form of value based activities and games. This exquisite journey of Prarthana also included Bhajans, arts & crafts classes etc. The arrival of Raksha Bandhan saw the children making Rakhees and they ushered in Diwali by making beautiful lanterns taught by Mrs. Acharya Shilpa pachi.

With the dawn of Sep’09 begins yet another year of fun filled personal and spiritual evolution in the form of Prarthana classes. Our sincere and whole hearted thanks to Param Pujya Sadyojat Shankarashram Swamiji for giving our children this wonderfully designed course called “Prarthana”.
